Monday Musings // Books, Books, Books!!

It's Monday already?! I don't know about you all, but the weeks seem to be running together for me. Having a full schedule certainly makes the time fly!

Okay, sooooo, a few note-worthy occurrences from the past seven days . . .

~receiving/reading new books, both in paperback and Kindle format

~we had our roof redone (which created a REALLY noisy atmosphere in our home from seven in the morning to eight in the evening *winces in remembrance*)

~lots of rain. on one particularly wet morning, Ruby Jane, my little brother, and I all squeezed under an umbrella to take a walk around the block. plenty of laughter and some slightly-soaked clothes ensued from this outing xD

~FFF organizing (again)

~I enjoyed my first-ever voice chat with Abby J. <3

~the arrival of a new piece of jewelry in the mail had me excited. September is national suicide prevention month, and I was inspired to order (and wear!) a semicolon ring as a reminder that the story is not over yet;

~two fun visits to Grandma's for PB&J sandwiches, pizza, snakes (!!!), and a variation of ball games

~Ruby officially added two daily containers of Gerber baby food to her diet (she's growing way too fast!)

Aaaaaaand, time for everyone's favorite part . . . the pictures. Take a look at all these books + the cuties helping my photo shoots along. =)

How has your week been? What's on your currently-reading list? Let's talk in the comments below! <3

Blessings,
Ellen S.

  1. "More Tales of Memory Creek Ranch"!!!! I'll get me a paper copy one of these years... I recently read "Just Thirteen" by Dorcas Mast (really good, though I don't agree with some of the Mennonite doctrine).

  5. So fun!
Oh, man. We could really use that rain. We have a fire just about maybe 18 miles from us and the smoke is THICK. So rain would be nice. ;)

Oh my, I can sooooo relate to this! Back in the summer of 2018, I signed up to review the final two CCSS (Circle C Stepping Stones) books from Kregel. When the books arrived, I opened the package, admired the covers . . . then shoved them in a backpack and promised myself not to read them till my family's vacation at the beach THREE WHOLE WEEKS from then. *laughs, then winces* It was a long, hard wait, but definitely worth it!

    2. I did that with the first Tales book, except I only had to wait THREE AGONIZING DAYS!! I even sewed a special bag, put in the book, and sewed the top shut, so I wouldn't peek lol.

    3. I've decided I haven't enough self control to wait three weeks (which is how long till our vacation), and I'm not buying Tales 2 till a week before we leave. Because if I get it too soon, the book won't lay unopened for long xD

  8. Fun!!!
The walking in the rain actually sounds really fun . . . I was outside in the rain some recently, and I actually liked it. XD
And I LOVE your ring! <3 That's awesome!
Getting to voice chat with you was completely amazing!! <3
I've started a WWII novel by Bodie Thoene, but it's yet to catch my interest much. But I've also been reading a friend's unpublished book and listening to "The Shunning" by Beverly Lewis. That audiobook is wonderful, and that's really high praise coming from somebody who really, really doesn't like Amish fiction! And I've binging K.M. Weiland's writers' podcast - which explains why I haven't been doing much listening to audiobooks lately. :D
And you're reminding me of how much I want to read "Beloved" . . . <33333 I really need to get that soon!

    1. Yes! Our walk was extremelyyyy fun. :D After all, there's nothing like sibling bonding time and a good laugh beneath a dripping, (too small) umbrella. *wink, wink*
Awww, thank you! Talking with YOU was awesome as well!!! We'll have to do it again sometime soon. <3
Oh my, yes, you definitely have to read "Beloved"! I've had this book on my shelf for almost a year and it's so super special to me. I think you'd enjoy it. <3
      Thanks for commenting!
