Liebster Award

Okay, now that all the blog tour and Q&A stuff are over, I decided it was time to go scrolling through the 190+ posts in my pesky draft section of the blog and decide what to tackle next. And what do you know? I stumbled upon an ancient post (about a month old) that I completely forgot to publish. >.< Emma tagged me for this award a while back. Thanks, lovely! (Emma has a fabulous blog, so be sure to check her out and give her a follow! :D)

THE RULES:

1). Thank the person who nominated you.
2). Display your award

3). Answer the questions you were asked
4). Nominate 5 bloggers
5). Ask 6 new questions
6). Let your nominees know they were nominated.

Emma's questions:

What is something your mom does that makes you feel loved? Oh, soooooooo many things!! It's impossible to choose just one. :) She was with me every step of the way on my writing journey for The Whispers God Gives, offering her feedback and encouragement. Even now, she continues to endorse, influence, and remain my #1 fan. :D
In the morning, if I'm awake early enough, Mom will pop in my bedroom on her way downstairs to smile and say she loves me. During the day, she's there to answer my questions, offer her wise counseling, or just listen as I share my heart. And of course we can't forget the a.m.a.z.i.n.g. meals she makes for our large family!
In the evening, when Mom and I are in our separate bathrooms brushing our teeth and getting ready for bed, we'll knock patterns on the wall to each other (and yes, we like to joke that the walls in this house are paper-thin. XD)
Sorry not sorry, friends, but my mom is truly the best!! <3

What is your favorite natural phenomenon? Why? Hmmm, probably ice glaciers. Why? Because I had to look the word "phenomenon" up in the dictionary to answer this question, and the example they gave included ice glaciers. *laughs*

What are three of your quirkiest habits? Picking up things with my feet (literally, I can lift just about anything using only my toes . . . don't ask. it comes from years of practice), handling my favorite books with the utmost care (what? you do it too? great! maybe it's not such a quirky habit, then), and . . . hmm . . . not sure I have a third one. *shrugs*

What do you and ducks have in common? Uhhh, a love for fresh bread and cool water? :D

What do people overestimate/underestimate about you? Overestimate? The "nice" side of me. Contrary to what some people may be inclined to think as they read my well-written, organized, always-pointing-back-to-Christ posts and see my behavior outside the home, I'm a wretched sinner too. I mess up more times than I'd like to admit and struggle daily with anxiety, the need to surrender, patience, and self-control.
Underestimate? Just how much I care for any one particular person. I firmly believe that whoever God places in my path has a purpose in my life and I in theirs. I long to show them love and friendship in ways they've never experienced before. If I've met you, I'm not about to forget you. Virtual friends and blog viewers also have a special part of my heart. :)

Do you believe in penguins? (This is a very controversial topic, so please be thoughtful in your answer.) Well, sure, I believe that penguins exist!! I think they're extraordinary creatures, and I'd love to meet one in person someday. :)

This was a lot of fun!! Now, for my six questions . . .

What's one thing your dad does that makes you feel loved?
Do you consider yourself a morning person?
Would you rather watch movies or TV shows (or neither)?
Can you describe to me one exciting moment of your life when you felt like you were walking on air?
If you had to change your name, what would you change it to, and why?
What's one book on your TBR that you absolutely can't WAIT to read?

I nominate:

Caleigh @ Caleigh's Random Thoughts
Caitlyn @ Flight of the Quill
Annika @ Annika Lorraine
Izzy @ Dappled Sunshine
Brooklyn @ Five Shekels
Rhoda, Lilly, Sarah Grace, & Elate (in the comments!)

. . . as well as anyone else who'd like to do this award, whether on their own blogs or in the comment section below. :D I look forward to reading everyone's answers!!

Blessings,

Ellen S.
Just because . . . here's a picture of one of the gorgeous roses I found while on my walk today. :)

p.s. Have you noticed that Ellen's Musings is officially six people away from fifty followers?? It seems so surreal. You guys are amazing! <3 And if you're stalking me right now and debating about pushing the "follow" button, allow me to give you a little extra incentive: fifty followers = another awesome giveaway. :)

  3. Ellen, thanks a bazillion for nominating me!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to answer your fun questions!!!! And yes, if I have a brand new book (especially an Andi book) woe to the person that puts it down facedown, uses a phone, pen, or spoon as a "bookmark". Oh yes. One more thing. Umm, this is just slightly embarrassing. What's a TBR list?? Lol thanks Ellen ;) ~Caitlyn

TBR means "to be read." 😊

    3. Haha, no problem. 😊 I didn't know what TBR stood for either, till Lilly @ Lilly's Tibit clarified the term for me. 😉

Okay...........*drum roll please* Here are my answers:::

What's one thing your dad does that makes you feel loved?
He spends time with my and occasionally buys us things (donuts, gifts, etc.) Can you guess what my love languages are? (LOL)

Do you consider yourself a morning person?
    Absolutely!

Would you rather watch movies or TV shows (or neither)?
I'm not a huge t.v. person, but I think watching t.v. shows has my vote.

Can you describe to me one exciting moment of your life when you felt like you were walking on air?
*thinks really hard* Maybe when I won "Memory Master" award in CC. I didn't actually think my memory was that good....(LOL)

If you had to change your name, what would you change it to, and why?
Change my name!?!?!? I LOVE my name, but if I had to change it, maybe Eden or Brighton, or Elizabeth?

What's one book on your TBR that you absolutely can't WAIT to read?
I have so many books on my TBR list....... "Just Thirteen" by Dorcas Mast is ONE of them.

I enjoyed doing this in the comments, Ellen! 🙂

I love how you tagged me! Thank you! :D
    Here are my answers:
What's one thing your dad does that makes you feel loved?- Working SO hard to provide for us. Maybe that's not a personal thing, but it sure does make me feel great knowing he works hard to take good care of us!
Do you consider yourself a morning person?- If I considered myself a morning person, than I would be delusional. Lol I can sleep in until 9:30 on most days, and some days it's 10 or 10:30.
Would you rather watch movies or TV shows (or neither)?- TV shows. I'm not really a movie person.
Can you describe to me one exciting moment of your life when you felt like you were walking on air?- Uhhhh, *thinks for a really long time* There were a few really great moments. I think a main one was when I got Tess (my dog). I had wanted a dog for years! That was a lot of fun!
If you had to change your name, what would you change it to and why?- Jean or Yvonne probably. I just love them both!
What's one book on your TBR list that you can't WAIT to read?- Hmmm, I've been wanting to get quite a few books. (Your devotional is one of them Ellen! :D ) I'm not sure if I can just pick one. :)
    ~Elate
Oh and Ellen, I might be getting a google account. Maybe. My parents don't exactly want me to have one, but they are thinking about it. However, if I do get one, I'll be sure to follow you! :D <3

  10. Hey, Ellen!! This is such a fun post!! I loved your questions (and thanks sooo much for including me--it made me feel so happy! <3)
    Here are my questions! :D
1). Ohhhhhh goodness! That's really hard. He does soooo many things! *thinks hard* I think one of my favorite things that he does to show me he loves me, is give me a big hug and tell me a joke when I feel sad or mad. Nothing makes me happier <3
2). Honestly, if you had asked me this a few weeks ago, I would have said no XD. But lately, I've been getting up at the crack of dawn, and there's just something special about getting up with the sun and hearing the birds sing their pretty songs while I do my chores. It makes me stand in awe about how really wonderful God is :).
3). Good grief, that's hard!!! I think I would pick movies...? Though I do LOVE shows... I'm not quite sure why I like movies best tho...XD
4). It was when my parents told me I was going to spend my eleventh birthday at my grandparents beach house! Ohhhh! That was such a fun time!!! (The beach is one of my favorite places in the world!)
5). Change my name? Hmmmm. I like my name a lot, but if I had to, it would the be the name 'Ireland'. Haha! Why? Well, I know it's the name of country, but I'm very Irish (I look like it too--red hair is actually of Viking and Scottish descent--not necessarily Ireland *winks*) and the other reason is because I had a teen-aged ballet teacher when I was a very little girl, named Ireland. And oh! How I looked up to her! She was always smiling and she loved Jesus so much. She was really special to me. And so is her name *smiles*.
6). That's easy AND hard. The Whispers that God Gives is at the top, Ellen *grins*. But I also want to read Dewdrops and Butterflies by Libby May, Freedom by Faith Potts, and Beloved by Kaitlyn Krispense. I know that was more than one, but what can I say?! I'm a bookworm! :P
This was sooo fun, Ellen! Again, thank you for tagging me (I've never been tagged before and I sat their for a few minutes wondering if their was perhaps another Sarah Grace who visited your blog XD). And I apologize for being a bit late *sheepish grin*

  14. I loved reading your answers, Ellen!! :D and thanks for tagging me ;-) I meant to answer right away, but it suddenly became today, and I realized I still hadn't... xD
    Anyway, here's my answers...

1). One thing? Okay... He buys fun games :D (and sometimes helps play them, which is REALLY fun ;) ) and he fixes pretty much anything around the house if it quits working, and sometimes he takes us out to eat! Tho not often, as the bill gets pretty high... ;-) that wasn't just one thing... whoops! XD

2). Um... kinda? Lately I've been waking up around 6:00 but I'm pretty sure that's only temporary ;) (usually I'd get up closer to 8:00)

3).Probably TV shows, tho I'm always sad when I reach the end...

    4). When I heard my brother got engaged! :D I was on-top-of-the-world happy to get a sister-in-law ;D

5). I'm perfectly happy with my name, ;) but if I had to pick another... maybe Regina? Or Liberty? Hmm... I'm not very good at picking one... good thing I didn't have to name myself! XP I'd pick Regina 'cause...well I've always loved that name ;-) and Liberty because of what it means.

6). Beloved by Kaitlyn Krispense, Dewdrops and Butterflies, by Libby May, your devotional, Freedom by Faith Potts, oh, wait... you said one... ;P

I guess through all this we've learned I cannot pick just ONE thing XD

    ~R

    P.S. I LOVE that rose!! <3
