Hi, friends! I was recently given a very precious piece of my mother's work - the hymn and sweet lettering found in the above picture.

Musing #31 - Forty Days with No Internet

Hi, friends! Today is the first of forty days that, over 2,000 years ago, our Savior walked this earth with no food or drink. In honor of these days, I am taking a forty-day break from the Internet. This means no blog posts or blog visits. Also, you may comment on my posts all you please, but your comments will neither be moderated nor published until the day after Easter.
I'm sorry, but I couldn't get the fifth story for my, "A Story a Week Challenge," finished in time, so there will be no more stories until the Friday after Easter. I do have one more devotional scheduled to post this Friday, and I pray that it blesses you.

Until April 22nd,
Ellen

Musing #30 - I Have To . . . Or I Get To?

A valuable lesson for each and every one of us to learn is the power of "perspective." As we attend those dull, daily duties of every day life, we may tend to grumble and feel that life is just plain . . . unfair
"I have to wash these dishes."
"I have to clean this table."
"I have to sweep this floor."
. . . and on and on the list goes.

Musing #29 - "One Story a Week Challenge," Story 4

Hmm. . . which card shall it be today? Read the first paragraphs of the story (below) and take a guess :-). At the end of my post, I have the correct picture. Keep reading and see if your guess is right!

Go back in time, to the early 1900's. Imagine a family that consists of a mother, father, several girls, and twin baby boys. Their house is filled with noise, from the kids to their many pets, and there is hardly ever a dull moment.
This story focuses upon one of the girls of this family, whose name is Beth Walter. At the age of eight, she is the "middle girl," which means that one sister is older than she, the other younger. Beth loves to paint, sew, and draw, but mostly she likes to hang out in the great outdoors. She enjoys climbing trees and swinging from fences, and she loves to laugh and play with her sisters.
Considering all these things, Mother and Father's bit of news that they delivered one steamy day in early July brought shrieks of pure joy and excitement from the little girl.
The Walter family was going to spend the day at the seashore!
